If composed of rigid voxels, Discrete structures can only approximate at curves. But what if the building blocks are made of flexible materials? As co‐founder of the Design Computation Lab at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London and cofounding principal of MadMDesign, Manuel Jimenez García has been leading parallel initiatives to develop and test structure‐generating software that explores this proposition. Here he outlines its potential by showcasing some of the prototypes and installations that the new software has produced.
